I moved to Phoenix from Portland 2 years ago, just because I could. I feel like I will eventually end up back in Portland, but this is working for now.
After I moved here, I began volunteering quarterly at St. Mary's Food Bank. Last night my friends John, Megan, Ashlynn, Justin and I got to the food bank at 6pm and by 7:40pm, with the help of other volunteers, we had put together over 1200 food boxes for families here in Arizona. We had a good time and helped out at the same time.
Afterward, John and I headed to BWW to visit with our favorite bartender Sara, and met up with our friend Amanda as well. We had a beer or two, watched the remainder of the Kings game on the big screen, and had some incredible laughs.
On paper it sounds like a rather plain day with very little excitement, but there is nothing bad about a day when you are in service to the community you belong to, and enjoying those people you love the most.

Early birds and night owls.
The 17 year old kiddo has to get up at 6am every weekday for school. 2nd half of Junior year is hard if I remember correctly, and sometimes, looking at the monsta's homework, schedule... I think it sure seems way harder now.
I am queen of the night owls and don't HAVE to get up 'till 10am if I don't want to. (Lousy paying job but great schedule)
Not a good combination. Poor monsta. I'm not at all loud, in fact I'm super quiet, but even the slightest sound wakes the beast from its light sleep.
In case you didn't know, teenagers are horrific if they don't get their required sleep. Trust me, I know firsthand. And often.
You can see how this could be bad, no?
